Canada: Glorious at Berlin 2010
Canada is the partner of choice for producers around the world and nowhere is this more recognized than at international festivals such as the Berlinale.
This year, Canadian cinema shines throughout the festival: 15 films have been programmed to screen at the European Film Market in the Perspective Canada program, Kazik Radwanski’s Out in that Deep Blue Sea will be screened in Berlinale Shorts, John Greyson’s short Covered will be screened in the Panorama section, while the Forum will feature Guy Maddin’s Night Mayor and Jean-Francois Caissy’s feature documentary Journey’s End (La Belle visite). The Forum Expanded presents a number of shorts, including works by the Embargo Collective, John Price and Andrea Cooper, as well as installation works by Mark Lewis and the duo Christian Giroux and Daniel Young.
Elsewhere, Canadian filmmakers’ accomplishments in cinema are being recognized: Award-winning director Philippe Falardeau (C’est pas moi, je le jure!) is serving on the Generation Jury; Sarah Polley’s award-winning Away from Her will be screened in the Berlinale’s 60th Anniversary Retrospective; and Michael Snow’s So Is This will screen in the Forum’s 40th Anniversary Retrospective.
Telefilm Canada is an invaluable resource for the promotion of Canadian films and film professionals worldwide and our commitment sustains Canada’s privileged position as a partner on the international scene. Canada’s business office at Berlin is a creative and business hub, where partnerships are forged, ideas are exchanged and inspiration is found.
Enjoy the festival and experience Canada at Berlin.
